Yep, due to Daylight Standard Time starting on the first Sunday in November (here in the States), we fall back one hour in the early morning.
How fuckin' awesome is that!?!!
Oh, went to a costume contest tonight. I knew I would place (which I did, 4th out 5) but didn't win. :-( While a mite disappointing, this crowd really wasn't "my" crowd of people (i.e., fans & con-goers) but I was amused that the folks who won did the Aqua Teen Hunger Force.
Well, 'night, y'all. I'm off to bed.

While looking for photos of me from the recent cons, I stumbled across a great shot of me from Dragoncon:

I'm not a gamer but I think the small, stuffed toy is from an online RPG.
This photo made me smile. A lot. :-D

Went to the Baltimore Comic-Con today. Parking was a nightmare as there was a Ravens game and ALL parking was $25 because of that event. Oy vey...
This is the event where I do most of my geeky purchases like toys, comics, art prints, et al. Which I did purchase some (six prints by John Tyler Christopher, one by Matt Wagner), a few loose toys, and one independent comic from someone I ran into last year's BCC. Only personal disappointment was that Adam Hughes had to cancel at the last minute. I really wanted to get two autographed prints from him; one for me and one for Kat.
But the big draw for me this year was costuming. I tried out my Orson Randall Iron Fist costume and I was rather pleased with it but have a few issues with the outfit. First, the folks who made my shoulder pistol holsters made them freakin' backwards. So I'm going to end up getting another double shoulder holster that will be pointing the correct direction. ~grumbles~ Second, buy better S&W prop pistols – one broke a little bit when it was dropped on the floor. Third, I will not wear the costume again until I loose some more weight in my face. While the mask from XTreme Design FX looked fantastic (my best Dragon*Con purchase & Lance is great to deal with!) the latex of the mask pushes into my head and really emphasizing the size of my lower face. I've lost 30 lbs. the past few months so this is an incentive to drop some more weight. Hey, I've now got a goal for next Dragon*Con. :-D
Okay, enough nit-picking about my newest costume. I entered into BCC's first costume contest (90+ entries) and won the "Adult Male Original Hero" category! Holy shit!! I fucking won???!!!!
I really wasn't expecting to win but figured it would be fun to enter and a good chance to invoke "geek envy" with my Dex-Starr prop and light-up rings. Well, the judges (included George Perez) liked my entry enough to give it the award. Unfortunately, I did not win the $1,000 first place prize – that went to a guy who did a kick-ass Iron Man costume he made by himself and definitely deserved to win IMHO. But I did get some cool stuff as my prize: a few toys; movie passes; $50 gift certificate to a local comic shop, and other stuff.
I am now home, ate some real food, and heading to bed. Can't think of anything else to write about. Will be posting photos from the con later.

Just left the Thurmont Colorfest arts & crafts show. Yes, Thurmont, the official middle of nowhere. And this show was honkin' HUGE! 100,000 people & 500+ vendors. Much bigger than we thought it would be.
But, as always, I find a way to (unintentionally this time!) to screw with someone' head. We were walking a bit off the main streets and see a vendor set up with t-shirts, hats with sayings on them, etc. Well, there were a few that had the phrase, "MILF Hunter," which I find funny & disturbing. I mention while passing by, "Heh. There's a website called that." An older man sitting by the booth asked, "Hey, could you tell me what 'MILF' really means?"
My response was, "Are you sure you wanna know?" He, and some other folks at the booth, answered, "Yes."
"Okay, it stands for 'Mothers I'd Like to F#*&."
I had to repeat this a few times as neither the older gentlemen nor the ladies present could believe the definition. And one lady gave the oddest look at the hat.
"Sorry that ruined something for you." As I felt bad that I told them something unpleasant – similar to explaining "teabagging" to my mother a few months ago. The older gentleman replied, "Oh no, I think it's funny. Not a nice thing to say, but funny."

Gave it my best effort but the Marriott Marquis has completely booked all of it's rooms for Dragoncon.
Fuck. Fuckity-fuck-fucking-fuckers. Waited on hold for 30 minutes. And you can't call the hotel directly as they've reassigned the 0000 number which lands you in voicemail hell. *headdesk repeatedly*
Does anyone have an extra room reserved (Heather or Cara)? Two beds are preferable but can make due with one bed.
Marriott is my preference but Hilton would work out as well.

Third time it's been blocked. Might be back in a week or six months, I dunno.
Time will tell. So anyone following me might not see me here as often. I "twitter" infrequently but if you want to follow me, I'm #greyloch.
Still posting my D*C photos. Got about 18 more left plus a dozen shots from the Devil's Panties forum dinner at the Mellow Mushroom (which has excellent pizza, highly recommend it if you're ever in Atlanta area). Haven't even touched the photos from Wendi & Daven's "Feast of The Flaming Flesh" party on the 19th. That's next on the photo agenda.
Anyone going to the Baltimore Comic-Con? If so, please speak up or send me an e-mail. Be kinda nice to hang out with my comic "peeps." Yeah, I used the word "peeps," Sharkie. Deal with it.
Speaking of peeps, I can now get sugar-free peeps in Halloween shapes! Joy!!! I love marshmallow peeps but they're insanely high in sugar. The sugar-free ones are made with Splenda and if eaten sparingly (one every now and again) they taste really good. :-D

I wore four costumes:
Electric Pirate at the Friday & Saturday night kilt blowings
Obidiah Stane on Saturday
Duff Goldman (from Ace of Cakes) on Sunday
Alien Red Lantern Priest on Friday and Sunday nights - walked around with an animatronic blue cat
Just haven't seen any photos yet and want to see how the costumes turned out.

Currently eating spinach pizza and white pizza w/ Sharkie & Kat.
Yep, another D*C has finished up. Had lots of fun ran into lots of friends & acquaintances.
But I'm kinda glad it's over. Haven't gotten a lot of sleep the past week and want to go home to Sharkie & the cats.
To the new and old friends I met, I'll miss ya bloody lunatics! Do it again next year? This time bring more booze and women. ;-D

Obadiah Stane went over well. Got a huge compliment from Belle Chere & Taliesin who said I "nailed" it. :-D
Had dinner with most of the Devil's Panties forum at Mellow Mushroom. Great pizza but very understaffed. Falconess & Desota decided to sprinkle me with sparkles. Grrrr... I hate sparkles! Hillary & Janine have been total sweeties to hang around with. And very sexy. Kat & I are very appreciative of the time these two ladies have spent with us.
Could have done without two members deciding to engage in "questionable" behavior at the restaurant. Guys, if you want to do that, please do it in appropriate areas (i.e., hotel room, exhibitionist parties, etc.), NOT in a family restaurant in front of little kids. And if you're going do stuff like that at, least provide a download service. it was making me a bit uncomfortable. *rolls eyes*
Plan to be dressed up as Duff Goldman for most of the day until the Masquerade. Come down and cheer me on!!!

My alien with the Rage Kitty prop went over very well. Had lots of photos taken and the cat toy attracted women in droves. Insert you own joke here. ;-)
Had tons of fun at the parade! Was a lot more fun than I expected.
Registration line was a nightmare on Thursday. O.O! Serious C. F. in all ways.
Am highly amused that the Hyatt is practically dead. Very little programing that interests me. Hyatt's management have seriously been jerkwads re: photos, congregrating with friends, etc. So this feels like Karma to me. :-)

Got all of my crap packed for this year's Dragon*Con. Two full suitcases plus a carry-on. The carry-on luggage has a backpack in it in case I need to shift some things to make the weight limit.
Final costumes are:
I may even dress up as Hitman's Agent 47. I'll have the suit and gloves with me, just need to shave everything.
And I'm off to bed. I'll see everyone in a day or two. :-D
Final costumes are:
- Alien Red Lantern - original costume based on the Blackest Night story-line in DC Comic's Green Lantern (Friday and Sunday costume contests); I even have the most awesome prop on the planet... Rage Kitty!!!
- Obadiah Stane (from Iron Man) - plan to wear this either Friday afternoon or Saturday evening
- "Duff" Goldman - from the Ace of Cakes television show (planning on wearing this either Saturday or Sunday, dunno which day yet)
- Electric Pirate - original costume of my own design. It lights up. I wear a kilt with it. Definitely wearing it on Friday night for the first "Leaf Blower vs. 'Men in Kilts' " photo shoot/gathering (Marriott lobby @ Midnight)
- Hush (from Batman) - recreation costume that I plan to wear to the DC photoshoot on Saturday @ 2:00 p.m.
- Iron Fist (Orson Randall) - recreation costume that I will wear on Monday

UPDATE: The fabric paint was a failure of epic proportions. Got very clumpy and wouldn't wash off of the material, leaving just the color. Tried "grooming" the toy (with scissors and a cat brush) to soften the fur but ultimately ended up buying a pure white "Fur Real" toy cat. A bit more money than I originally wanted to spend but 1) it fits into the spandex costume and 2) is animated so it will freak people out when it does it's little movements.
I've pretty much finished painting it as a blue cat w/ tabby markings. The fur isn't as soft because of the markers (three shades of blue) I used but it can be touched and petted as opposed to the stuffed white tiger toy. Yes, my fingers got a bit blue but washed off very well w/o staining my fingers or fingernails. As this thing has electronics, I could not just dye the toy outright which is what I probably should have done in the first place with the first toy. Hindsight is 20/20. *head desk*
Just need to dampen the fur with a scrap washcloth to make sure everything it's color-fast and won't bleed on me, my costume, nor anyone else. Then it's ready to be packed.

Got an e-mail from one of my buddies on the League of Lanterns (cptnspndx) forum. He finished his portion of one of my props for Dragon*Con. Here's the shot he sent me:
Oh, I'm going to make peoples' heads explode from cuteness... then horror! *evil grin*
Once I pick it up from USPS, I need to paint it (got two shades of blue fabric paint) and add some length to the tail then I'm all set. I'm also finishing up a Red Lantern power battery that (hopefully) I will be able to ship to Atlanta. It's too honkin' huge to pack in my luggage.

We were in desperate need of caffeine this morning so we stopped at the creepy, Christian gas station to pick up something to drink. I got
wolfsharka Coke Zero. If you've ever seen those suckers, they're jet black and we mockingly call them "emo Cokes."
Our conversation:
For some reason, I thought that this exchange was really funny. Okay, I blame the god-awful early hour and lack of caffeine, so fucking sue me.
Then we got stuck behind a bus in the commuter lane again. As I've written before, Sharkie has "issues" with buses in front of her.
This goes on for a few minutes until she finds an opening to zip around the bus. And I'm laughing at her self-imposed frustration.
As you can tell, she has some... issues. First, she has a phobia of German Shepherds (one did try to maul her as a child), is afraid of clowns ("Can't sleep. Clowns will eat me."), and now commuter buses. Hmm... maybe we can get a psychiatric discount for multiple problems? *laughs a lot*
Our conversation:
Her: "Don't cut yourself, little emo Coke."
Her: "Don't cry little emo Coke... soon you will be in my belly and it will all be over."
Me: "o_O?? ... okay, then. If we ever get a house with a lawn, I want the grass to be emo so that it will cut itself."

Her: "There's a bus. In front of me."
Me: "Yes. I see it. It's very large and hard to miss."
Her: "But, there's a bus. In front of me."
Me: "Yes. But it's keeping up with traffic."
Her: "There's a bus. In front of me. Make it go away!"
Me: "I'm trying, but it's not listening to me. And you can't get around it as we're boxed in by other cars." *I start snickering at this point*
Her: "But there's a bus.. in front of me. It needs to get out of my lane. Shoo, go away bus!!"
